Also known as
"patterned" or "ornamental" glass, figured glass is a
decorative and translucent glass with figures on one face. Besides offering a
variety of figured motifs embedded into the glass, figured glass also allows
the passage of light while obscuring visibility, thus offering privacy. It
is manufactured by the rolled process, whereby a roller imprints the pattern
onto one surface of the glass. This type can be further processed by lamination
or heat treatment to produce a safety glass. This type of glass is used mostly
for partitions, interior doors, windows, and furniture.
